The scam involves intimidating victims into providing money for alleged illegal purchases or clearing a fake warrant. The scammer may claim to be from another country, use badge or case numbers, and even mention real officers. They typically request payment in Bitcoin or gift cards. Weird news:

  1. $1.4 million dollar speeding ticket:

In Savannah, Georgia, a man named Connor Cato got quite the shock when he received a $1.4 million speeding ticket. However, city officials clarified that this eye-popping figure was just a placeholder and not the actual fine. Connor had been pulled over for driving at 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, a significant violation. When he called the court, they informed him it was no mistake, and he'd have to pay it or go to court in December. In Savannah, if you're caught driving more than 35 mph above the speed limit, you have to appear in court, where the judge determines the real fine. So, Connor won't actually have to pay that enormous sum; the actual fine can't exceed $1,000, plus state-mandated costs. The city is also working on fixing the placeholder language to avoid any confusion.
