  1. This HOA cut off an ailing resident’s water because of lapsed dues

Beth Williams, facing financial hardship due to chronic kidney failure, fell behind on her homeowner association (HOA) dues in Paulding County. The Cottage Cove Homeowners Association cut off her water supply for 31 days due to unpaid dues, leading to considerable inconvenience and humiliation for Williams. The outstanding balance grew substantially, including attorney fees and collection fees, reaching $4,000. While the HOA defended its actions, legal experts noted that if an HOA provides services like water, it can suspend them for unpaid dues as per the covenants. Prospective homeowners are advised to thoroughly review HOA rules and bylaws before purchasing property within such associations. Williams now faces a lien on her home, making it difficult to pay off her HOA debts.........This from Atlanta News First

Atlanta-area singer and songwriter Gabe Lustman is recovering from a brown recluse spider bite, which initially presented as swelling, bruising, and discomfort in his leg. He was eventually admitted to Wellstar North Fulton in Roswell, where tests confirmed the spider bite. Despite concerns about losing his leg, Lustman received pain medications and antibiotics. Weird news:

  1. Another spotless giraffe has been discovered — this time, on a reserve in Namibia:

A baby reticulated giraffe named Kipekee at a Tennessee zoo gained international attention for being born without spots. It was initially believed to be the only living spotless giraffe until a wild spotless Angolan giraffe was discovered at the Mount Etjo Safari Lodge in Namibia, making it the first-ever recorded spotless giraffe in the wild. Giraffes are typically born with a unique set of spots, and the absence of spots in some individuals could be due to genetic mutations. Various subspecies of giraffes are listed as vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered, with only around 117,000 giraffes remaining in Africa, highlighting their conservation challenges...........This from Georgia Public Broadcasting System

Former President Donald Trump's legal team has filed motions to dismiss charges against him in the Georgia election interference case. Trump and 18 co-defendants are accused of violating Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and other crimes in an alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. Trump's lawyers adopted arguments from some co-defendants, including Kenneth Chesebro, who argued that states cannot prosecute conduct within the ambit of federal authority. Trump's legal team also adopted a motion from Rudy Giuliani, affecting seven counts against Trump in the 41-count indictment. All defendants have pleaded not guilty, and the trial is scheduled for next month, with Trump attempting to move the case to federal court..............This from NBC News

  1. Georgia Gov. Kemp declares state of emergency over inflation, blames DC

The executive order is effective until October 12, 2023. The move comes amid concerns about increasing consumer prices, with the latest data showing a 3.2% increase in July compared to the previous year.
