Tens of thousands of Georgians at risk of losing food assistance under state’s new work rules
Since July 1, more than 87,000 Georgian adults without children must work at least 80 hours a month to receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services declined to request a federal work exemption, potentially putting many at risk of losing food assistance. Advocates argue that mandatory work hours may not be a reliable incentive, and Georgia previously sought waivers during the Great Recession for areas with limited job opportunities. The state's current unemployment rate is below the national average, and supporters of the work requirement believe it encourages self-sufficiency. The goal is to help recipients find employment and reduce reliance on public assistance……courtesy of newsbreak #losingfoodassistance #newworkrules #tensofthousandsofgeorgians #stateofgeorgia #Supplementalnutritionassistanceprogram #snap #geoegiadivisionoffamilyandchildrenservices #unemploymentrate #statesunemploymentrate #self-sufficiency #georgiaresidentsneedhelp #newsbreak

A woman and her daughter were at a dollar store around 10pm, just out running around, when they became victims of an armed robbery. They as well as the store employees were ordered to lie on the floor and surrender phones, watches, and valuables.
