In a fatal shooting that took place in unincorporated Norcross, a boyfriend and girlfriend who are suspects in the case have been granted bond, despite objections from the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office. Esteven Avila-Vega and Sulma Mejia-Orellano were given separate bond hearings this month.
According to jail records, Mejia-Orellano, also listed as Mejia-Orellana, was released on bond on May 3, while Avila-Vega was released on Wednesday. The pair was arrested in connection with the death of Lawrenceville resident Angel Mendoza, who was fatally shot on April 16 on Pepperwood Trail in Norcross.
