STORY 1: Reward Grows For Capture of Bibb County Jail Escapees
The FBI Atlanta is offering rewards totaling up to $25,000 for information leading to the capture of four inmates who recently escaped from Bibb County Jail in Georgia. When combined with rewards from other agencies, the total reward amount reaches $73,000. The FBI's reward is $10,000 for the capture of Johnifer Barnwell, who was convicted of federal drug trafficking charges. The FBI is also offering up to $5,000 each for the capture of the other three escapees, including Joey Fournier, charged with murder; Chavis Stokes, facing drug charges; and Marc K. Anderson, jailed for aggravated assault. Additional rewards are being offered by the U.S. Marshals Service, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, and Crime Stoppers.
STORY 2: Atlanta man charged with conspiracy to bring drugs into prison
An Atlanta man, previously incarcerated at Floyd County Prison, has been charged with felony conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. Anthony Jarrod McCoy is accused of conspiring to bring 32 grams of meth and 257 grams of marijuana into the prison by arranging for the drugs to be placed at the Floyd County Recycling Center, discovered by a corrections officer on December 15, 2022. McCoy faces additional charges, including felony sale of meth, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of items prohibited for an inmate without a warden's permission. He is currently held in jail without bond. Anne Lohse, who helped place the drugs, was previously arrested in January on conspiracy and drug charges in connection with this incident.
STORY 3: Gordon County DFCS Looking for Secret Santa Sponsors
Gordon County Division of Family & Children Services is seeking assistance for its Christmas Secret Santa program to support children in foster care. There are currently 180 children in foster care in Gordon County, many of whom have been placed outside the county due to the need for more local foster homes. To help, individuals can make monetary donations to the Gordon County DFCS/Secret Santa Fund or choose to be a Secret Santa and shop for a child, fulfilling their wish list. STORY 4: Former Rome Tree Service Financial Officer Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison
Former CFO Nakita Lasha Jackson of a Rome tree service company has pleaded guilty to embezzling over $450,000 over several years and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. In addition, she will serve 80 years on probation. Jackson pleaded guilty to multiple counts of felony theft by taking, third-degree forgery, and computer forgery. Her thefts occurred over five years, during which she used various schemes to defraud the company, including accumulating significant credit card debt on the company's card. Jackson's unauthorized charges included expenses for vacations, sports tickets, her son's tuition, and living expenses. The tree service company confronted her and offered her a chance to repay the funds, but she continued her fraudulent activities. In addition to her prison sentence, Jackson must pay $475,751 in restitution.
STORY 5: Calhoun Man Charged in Arson Cases
Cody Dexter Blankenship of Calhoun, Georgia, has been charged in connection with four separate arson cases. The incidents involved the use of Molotov cocktail-style devices in various locations within Gordon County. Blankenship confessed to his involvement in all four events. The first incident occurred on August 23 when a device was thrown at a church in the Pine Chapel community. The second event took place on August 26, where another device ignited a grass fire near a tractor on Covington Bridge Road. On October 1, a similar device was thrown at a church in the Oakman area, while on October 13, another device started a fire near a church on Wesley Chapel Road. Blankenship faces multiple charges, including arson, possession of destructive devices, and vandalism to a place of worship.
