While parts of Cobb received a light dusting of snow over the chilly Christmas weekend, it was the severe cold that caused issues. Plumbing trouble occurred throughout the county, for residents, governments, schools and businesses alike.
Marietta residents Andrew and Catherine Stamper were preparing dinner on Christmas Eve when a pipe burst in their 4-year-old daughter’s playroom.
Catherine Stamper said it was a pipe in their home’s emergency sprinkler that burst, causing water to gush from the ceiling for 20 minutes before firefighters arrived.
Stamper said the Marietta Fire Department was so overwhelmed by calls, county firefighters from west Cobb were dispatched to her house.
