       Story 1.  Shot

A 35-year-old man named Steven Thomaston from Lawrenceville was fatally shot on Stanley Road in Dacula on Tuesday night. Gwinnett police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Upon responding to a "person shot call," officers found Thomaston dead at the scene. The victim's background and the events leading to his death remain largely unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact GCPD detectives or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers. Informants may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. For emerging details on this case, keep an eye on gwinnettdailypost.com

STORY 2: police

Gwinnett County police are seeking the public's help in identifying two men involved in a shoplifting incident at the REI store near the Mall of Georgia in Buford. The theft occurred on May 31, with the suspects stealing merchandise worth $1,800, including a portable generator and a belt. One of the men pretended to return the generator without a receipt, while the other walked out with the belt. The police have released descriptions of the suspects and are urging anyone with information to contact them or provide anonymous tips through Atlanta Crime Stoppers. A cash reward is available for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. See pictures of these suspects and get more details at gwinnettdailypost.com

Story 3:  homeowner

Gwinnett residents facing challenges in finding affordable housing now have a new resource to turn to—the county's first Homeowner Resource Center. Developed through a partnership between the Gwinnett Housing Corporation, Norcross Downtown Development Authority, HomeAid Atlanta, and Lennar, the center aims to assist low-to-moderate-income individuals in becoming and remaining homeowners. The facility, located in Norcross, offers housing counseling, down payment assistance referrals, rehabilitation and modification services, and access to nonprofit developers and lenders. Several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Catholic Charities, will collaborate with the center. The Gwinnett Housing Corporation plans to start serving clients at the center in July, providing much-needed support to aspiring homebuyers in Gwinnett County.

STORY 4: Road Rage

Gwinnett County police are investigating a road rage incident that resulted in a woman being shot on Stone Mountain Highway. The incident occurred when the victim was being followed by a vehicle and attempted to evade it. The suspect's vehicle cut her off and fired multiple shots into her car, hitting her foot and causing damage. The victim described the suspect's vehicle as a dark, possibly green passenger car. Gwinnett police are seeking public assistance in identifying the vehicle involved in the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact GCPD detectives or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers for a potential cash reward.

Story 5: future

Gwinnett County commissioners have approved a project list totaling $759.8 million for transportation and parks projects funded by the special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) approved by voters last year. The county is set to receive three-quarters of the expected $1.35 billion generated by the SPLOST over six years. Transportation projects account for nearly three-quarters of the funds, while parks will receive $97.2 million. The list includes high-priority projects such as the Sugarloaf Parkway extension, improvements to major crossings on Interstate 85, new interchanges, pedestrian bridges, and capacity improvements at key roadways. The approved projects aim to address Gwinnett's infrastructure needs and support the county's growing population.
