STORY 1: Macon Man Charged With Threatening Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

A 34-year-old Macon man, Sean Patrick Cirillo, has been charged by the FBI for making threatening calls to 14th District Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's office, stating he planned to shoot her in the head with a sniper rifle. Cirillo allegedly made two calls, where he identified himself as a major donor and threatened violence against the congresswoman. In response, Greene closed her district office due to safety concerns. She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their swift action, emphasizing the broader impact of such threats on her family and staff.

STORY 2: Jewish-led Peace Activists Call for Cease-fire in Hamas-Israeli War Outside Ossoff’s Office

Amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Sen. Jon Ossoff, Georgia's first Jewish senator, is facing mounting pressure to advocate for a cease-fire in the conflict that has claimed over 10,000 lives. A group of Jewish peace activists gathered outside Ossoff's Atlanta office, urging him to support their call for peace and an end to the violence. Despite Ossoff's condemnation of Hamas' actions and his support for humanitarian aid in Gaza, the activists argue that a cease-fire is crucial to prevent further loss of innocent lives. The protesters expressed their disappointment, citing their previous support for Ossoff's election campaign and feeling unheard by his staff. The situation underscores the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the diverse perspectives within the Jewish community regarding the ongoing crisis.

STORY 3: Outdoor Burning Banned in Catoosa County

Catoosa County commissioners have issued an emergency resolution imposing a ban on all outdoor burning in response to a prolonged, severe drought in Northwest Georgia. The dry conditions elevate the risk of wildfires, prompting the ban on activities such as leaf burning, campfires, and trash burn barrels. The Catoosa County Fire Department and Georgia Forestry Commission are witnessing an uptick in outdoor fires. The burn ban will continue until the Board of Commissioners, based on advice from the fire department and forestry commission, decides to repeal the emergency declaration. Residents are urged to report prohibited outdoor burning to Catoosa County 911.

STORY 4: Georgia tax break review panel poised for final report

The Georgia legislative panel reviewing targeted tax breaks is expected to meet for the last time during the special session starting on November 29. The session primarily focuses on redistricting, but the Joint Tax Credit Review Panel will provide input on areas needing attention. Sen. Chuck Hufstetler and Rep. Shaw Blackmon, co-chairs of the panel, plan to submit a final report with recommendations for action to the legislature in January. Hufstetler is working on legislation to increase transparency, establish regular review schedules, and impose automatic sunsets for tax breaks. The panel has scrutinized various tax incentives to ensure efficiency and fairness in supporting sectors like film, low-income housing, rural jobs, and economic development projects. The goal is to avoid creating market distortions and focus on the state's overall competitiveness.

STORY 5: Former UGA Football Coach Mark Richt to Speak at Shorter University's President's Gala

Shorter University will host Coach Mark Richt, recently inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, at its annual President's Gala on December 7. Richt, known for coaching at the University of Georgia and the University of Miami, will share a special message about his life and the impact of the award.
