Police in Grayson arrested 23 individuals on criminal trespassing charges after discovering them having a party at an empty home without the homeowner's permission. The homeowner had called 911, reporting unauthorized people at his property, some of whom were allegedly displaying firearms. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that the party attendees had no connection to the homeowner. This incident reflects a trend observed in southeast Gwinnett, where party organizers break into vacant houses to host events, leaving behind garbage and refuse. A flyer promoting the party was discovered, and several individuals depicted on it were among those arrested. The partygoers, primarily aged 17 to 20, were transported to the Gwinnett County Jail, and their vehicles were impounded. Criminal trespassing is a misdemeanor offense in Georgia, punishable by fines, jail time, or both. Notably, two of the arrestees had addresses from Indiana and Michigan, while most were Gwinnett County residents.
