The Prelude to the Fourth's fireworks show in Lawrenceville ended early due to a "catastrophic equipment malfunction." According to City Manager Chuck Warbington, an entire rack of fireworks exploded on the ground, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The malfunction occurred about nine minutes into the show, causing it to abruptly end. The city's events team had been working closely with the pyrotechnics company to ensure a successful show. They are now discussing potential rescheduling or combining the fireworks with a future event. The malfunction resulted in the destruction of over half of the planned fireworks or their inability to ignite safely. Efforts were made to fix the issue but proved unsuccessful, leading to the event's conclusion.
