Story 4: suing
Victoria Bowles, an employee of the University of Georgia Athletic Association, has filed a lawsuit against the association, former UGA football player Jalen Carter, and others over a car crash that resulted in the deaths of her coworker and a UGA football player. Bowles alleges negligence on the part of the athletic association, claiming that their actions made the crash possible. The lawsuit states that the two vehicles involved were racing at high speeds before the crash occurred. It further alleges that the association was aware of the driver's previous speeding tickets. The lawsuit seeks damages for Bowles' injuries and medical bills. The association has disputed the claims and stated it will vigorously defend its interests in court.
Story 5: chamber
The Gwinnett Chamber is undergoing a major renovation of its Richard L. Tucker Building, which has been home to the chamber for over 20 years. The renovation project, estimated to cost at least $5 million, aims to modernize the building and update its facilities. The renovations include creating an open layout for offices to promote collaboration, upgrading audiovisual technology in the education boardroom, expanding the main lobby for events, and revamping the patio space. The chamber also aims to reduce its carbon footprint by using LED lights. The renovations are expected to be completed by early 2024.
Story 6: crawford
Jalyn Crawford, a senior at Parkview High School, has committed to play football for the Auburn Tigers. The 6-foot-1 cornerback chose Auburn over LSU and Florida, his other finalists. Crawford is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 16 cornerback nationally and the No. 23 player in Georgia. He visited all three schools in June, along with North Carolina. Crawford was recognized as a first-team all-county and first-team All-Region 4-7A selection last season. He cited the genuine people and coaches at Auburn as a major factor in his decision, making him feel like it's home.
