STORY 1: Artist Will Rivera paints newest mural in city of Jackson
Jackson, Georgia, has a new mural, "Better Together," thanks to a donation from Quality Tire and Recycling and artist Will Rivera. A Miami native who moved to Jackson for its small-town charm, Rivera completed the mural in late March, featuring letters and four hands symbolizing unity. Rivera, who shares his art through free pieces and local collaborations, sees the mural as an honor and a way to contribute to the community's visual landscape. Mayor Carlos Duffey hopes the mural serves as a welcoming symbol of inclusivity and resilience for all visitors and residents.
STORY 2: Apex Chiropractic Care Has Grand Opening
Apex Chiropractic Care, led by Dr. Drew Kline, celebrated its grand opening on April 5 in Madison, Georgia, at 213 W. STORY 3: Man found dead on Hurst Road identified
The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office has identified Douglas Machado Coka as the man found shot dead on March 30 in a front yard near Hurst Road and McDaniel Mill Road in Conyers. The case remains under active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the RCSO Tip Line at 770-278-8188. Callers can remain anonymous.

STORY 4: Driver’s License Deadline Approaching
Starting May 7, U.S. travelers will need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification to board domestic flights. Georgia began issuing REAL ID-compliant licenses in 2012, but those who recently moved or haven’t renewed their license should check for a gold or black star in the upper right corner of their ID. If it’s missing, schedule an appointment with the Department of Driver Services to avoid long lines as the deadline approaches. The REAL ID Act, passed in 2005, aims to enhance security and reduce identity fraud. Visit a state-approved office to apply if needed.
STORY 5: Georgia Bird Fest returns for 2025
The 10th annual Georgia Bird Fest runs April 11 to May 16, featuring over 40 events celebrating Georgia’s spring bird migration.
