James Anthony Reynolds of Acworth has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. Reynolds met the victim on a social media app in May 2020, and he later abducted and sexually assaulted her before abandoning her in a Walmart parking lot in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A Walmart employee assisted the girl in reaching her parents. Reynolds, who pleaded guilty in November, faces additional charges in state court. The case was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Detectives identified Soto, leading to his arrest on charges of home invasion, kidnapping, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, armed robbery, and impersonation of a public official. Tactical vests, ammunition, police badges, and the victim's shoes were found during a search at Soto's associated location. Detectives are still identifying the other suspects.
